The Association for Finnish Work is an expert organisation whose duty is to promote appreciation of Finnish work. Founded in 1912, the association has over 1,800 member enterprises or organisations that use the Key Flag Symbol in about 2,600 products, services or product groups.
The Key Flag Symbol can be granted to a product that has been manufactured in Finland. In addition, a so-called degree of domestic origin is calculated for each product. The degree of domestic origin is the percentage of Finnish expenses of the total cost price. Consequently, the minimum requirement for products is that the degree of domestic origin is over 50 per cent. On average, however, the degree of domestic origin of products using the Key Flag Symbol is over 80 per cent.
